Is NCP accredited and/or approved by state governing agencies?
Yes, NCP\'s Vocational Nursing Program is approved and accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT). In addition, NCP is approved by BVNPT to provide Continuing Education Units via the IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal course to Licensed Vocational Nurses. Further, The Board of Registered Nursing has approved NCP to offer refresher IV courses to Registered Nurses, which RNs may receive CEUs upon completion of the course.
The Nursing Assistant and CNA Acute Care Training Programs are approved by the California Department of Public Health (DPH). NCP is approved by the California DPH to provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for Certified Nursing Assistants.
NCP is also approved under the United States Code, Title 38, to accept Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill. Please note that NCP does not accept Chapter 33, Post 9/11 GI Bill. |
What is NCPs NCLEX-PN Pass Rate?
NCP South San Francisco and Hayward Campuses have consistently achieved high NCLEX-PN pass rates. For 5 consecutive quarters (the entire year of 2008 and the 1st quarter of 2009), the South San Francisco campus has enjoyed 100% NCLEX-PN pass rate. The 2009 year-to-date pass rate for NCP South San Francisco Campus is 88% and Hayward Campus 2009 year-to-date pass rate is 80%. The State average pass rate is 72%. NCPs pass rate is higher than the State average pass rate. |
Who can take LVN and C.N.A. classes?
If you are at least 17 years of age and have proof of 12th grade education or its equivalent, and you meet the minimum requirements for admission, you may qualify for entry into the LVN program. As for being a C.N.A., you are required to be at least 16 years of age and physically fit with no felony convictions. Health care experience is not required. For those who are interested in advancing in the nursing career field, they have the options of taking Acute Care C.N.A. Training, LVN Program or RN Program for advancement. How often is the Vocational Nursing Program offered?
The Vocational Nursing Program is offered three times a year at the South San Francisco Campus (see schedule of classes) and four times a year at the Hayward Campus (see schedule of classes). Part time classes are also offered at the Hayward Campus every nine months. The Required General Science Courses (Pre-requisites) are offered all year round. |
Does NCP have up to date training environment?
Yes, NCP offers its students the latest computer training and review software as well as PCs and other tools students can utilize to maximize their learning experience in a comfortable environment. Both South San Francisco and Hayward Campuses have a computer lab for students to use for test taking and review purposes. NCP offers a one-week NCLEX-PN test preparation workshop for its students and has the latest review software which will assist students in their preparation for the NCLEX-PN state board. NCP also places a heavy emphasis on student services to optimize students’ success. |
Do they offer many convenient and easy -to-reach clinical and lecture locations?
For lecture locations, we are conveniently located in South San Francisco and Hayward; and our affiliated clinical sites are conveniently located in South San Francisco, San Francisco, Millbrae, Burlingame, Daly City, Pacifica, Hayward, Fremont, San Leandro and Oakland. All locations are close to BART, local buses, and freeways. |
Is there a placement test for the Vocational Nursing Program?
All applicants interested in taking the Vocational Nursing Program are required to take a placement test. Applicants must meet or exceed the National Average Score of 60% to qualify for admission to the Vocational Nursing Program. The fee for the entrance exam is $25.00. Applicants who fail the first time will be allowed to retake the exam. Applicants are encouraged to purchase a study guide ($35.00) to help them prepare for the placement test. |
Can I take the Required General Science Courses (Pre-requisites) at another school?
Yes, you may take any of our Required General Science Courses (Pre-requisites)at another accredited school. If you are unsure about the course, please make sure to send NCP a copy of the course description for review. After completion of the course, submit an official transcript of the course, so credit will be granted accordingly. |
Does NCP grant credit for the Required General Science Courses (Pre-requisite courses) I took more than 5 years ago?
No, NCP will only grant credit for Required General Science Courses (Anatomy and Physiology and General Psychology) completed within the last five (5) years from an accredited school in the U.S.. Applicants who completed these Required General Science Courses from a foreign country are required to have their transcripts evaluated for U.S. equivalency by American Education Resource Corporation (AERC) or any approved foreign credential evaluation agency. |
Does NCP accept foreign students?
We have a culturally diverse group of students taking our program and we welcome anybody who is interested in having a career in the health care industry. All foreign students enrolled in our CNA program are required to have a valid Social Security number to take the ARC state competency test. For Licensed Vocational Nursing, ITIN qualifies one to take the state board exam. NCP College of Nursing does not issue I-20 student visa to foreign students. |

Where can I get my Live Scan (Fingerprinting) and Medical Examination done?
South San Francisco campus: Mobile live scan services will be provided on campus for students enrolled. The live scan fee is covered as part of the overall program fee.
Hayward campus: You can get your fingerprinting done at several live scan finger printing sites. Please call 1-800-315-4507 to find the nearest live scan location. For students who are not able to complete the Live Scan requirements at a live scan fingerprinting site, mobile live scan services will be provided on campus.
A medical exam report may be done by your own physician, or at public health clinics. We also have a list of viable clinics for those who do not have private insurance. You may call the Admissions Coordinator to obtain the list. Please make sure to use the NCP College of Nursing Medical Exam Report form.

Does NCP offer Continuing Education for CNAs?
Yes, we do offer C.N.A. Acute Care Training program to CNAs. Acute Care CNAs with six months to one year of work experience may find entry-level employment at acute care hospitals. With specialized training, Acute Care CNAs can also work in a specialty area such as pediatrics, geriatrics, surgery, medicine, obstetrics, orthopedics, and psychiatry. |
Does NCP offer job placement assistance?
NCP was a nursing registry and a home health agency that has provided job placement and contractual employment for over 14 years, before it became a vocational school and has maintained its good relations with skilled nursing facilities and acute care hospitals. Job placement assistance is available. Students will be provided with updated listings of facilities who are currently hiring, resume and interviewing workshops, as well as student support services.

Does the program or school accept alternative tuition payment plans?
NCP accepts a wide range of payment options for applicants who qualify for outside funding - such as from the Private Industry Council (PIC) of San Francisco and Oakland, WIA of San Mateo, Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties, NOVA Consortium of Sunnyvale, GI Bill, and Dept. of Rehabilitation partial or full tuition funding. NCP also offers payment options from in-house installment plans to third party financing such as Tuition Options. NCP also accepts check and credit card payments. |
Does NCP offer Federal Financial Aid?
No, we are not yet approved under Title IV, therefore, we cannot offer financial aid at this time. However, we do offer several payment options, such as the in-house monthly installment payment plans, student private loan through Sallie Mae Financial (SLM) Loan, NCP payment plan, or avail of a 5% discount if tuition is paid in full upon enrollment. We also provide information on available scholarship programs that students can take advantage of to help in financing our program. |
What is your refund policy?
Each applicant has a right to a full refund of all charges if requested within three (3) business days after signing the Enrollment Agreement and making the initial payment. If the applicant cancels more than three (3) days after signing the Enrollment Agreement and making the initial payment, but prior to entering the school, the applicant is entitled to a refund of all fees paid less the application fee of $75.00. If the student withdraws from a course after instruction has started, the student may receive a refund pro-rated on the number of hours attended by the student. Refund calculations will be based on the last day of attendance (LDA).
No refunds will be given if the student has attended more than 60% of the course and the student concerned may still be liable for any tuition due. NCP will also refund any monies collected for sending to a third party (such as American Red Cross testing fees) or grant monies received on the student’s behalf from third parties such as, WIA, NOVA, and etc. according to each respective agreement.
Please note that books and uniforms purchased are not refundable. All refunds will be paid within 30 days from receipt of cancellation or withdrawal letter.

How long does it take to process a refund check?
All students who withdraw from a course or program must submit a written letter to the School Director. The letter must include the following: reason for withdrawing, the last day of class attended and copies of the payment receipts (if available) issued by the school. You will receive your refund check within thirty (30) days from receipt of your withdrawal letter. |
